OPTIMUM STOCK OF LINE REPLACEABLE UNITS IN MOBILLE REPAIR STATIONS

The paper presents some results of the author’s work under contract with the American company “Hughes Network Systems”. According to the specifications of the work, the company has been compelled to carry out maintenance work on a large number of ground stations for satellite communication. Maintenance was conducted with the use of mobile repair stations (МRS) responding to requests from subscribers. Naturally, the subscribers themselves could not always identify the technical problem that had arisen; therefore in a regional repair base (RRB) it was necessary that there should be some primary stock of line replaceable units (LRU). A general advantage consisted in the fact that the configurations and hardware structures of various ground stations were sufficiently homogeneous. As all the necessary LRUs could not be stored in the MRS, therefore in the case that the necessary LRU type did not appear in the stock of spare parts carried, it was necessary to issue the RRB with the request for urgent delivery of necessary spares. As a result, instead of a five-minute replacement of the failed system element, it was necessary to wait for a considerable time for its delivery. Thus, there was a problem: how to optimally choose the complete set of spare LRUs carried in the МRS that can minimise the average time of restoration of failed ground satellite stations, and to reduce to a minimum the financial costs associated with emergency delivery of a missing LRU to a place of repair.

EXPERIMENT-CALCULATED METHOD FOR ESTIMATING THE RELIABILITY PERFORMANCE OF A TECHNOLOGICAL COMPLEX USING THE RESULTS OF OFF-LINE RELIABILITY TESTS OF ITS COMPONENTS

This paper offers an experiment-calculated method for reliability performance estimation of the chemical-engineering equipment by results of off-line reliability tests of its components. Off-line tests of individual components of aggregate systems for disassembly of chemical munitions have been carried out. A reliability performance assessment of the equipment was obtained on the basis of the experiment-calculated method developed. The obtained results are in conformity with the results of similar products described in the literature.
Keywords: estimation of reliability performance, experiment-calculated method, off-line tests, facility for elimination of chemical weapons, aggregate for disassembly of chemical munitions.

ENSURING RELIABILITY OF THE MONITORING SYSTEM OF ROCKET PROPELLANT FUELING COMPONENTS

The paper considers problems of reliability estimation of a system to control rocket propellant fueling components based on an application of essentially new thermistor sensors. For probability definition of the system failure-free operation the size of thermistor failure rate is found experimentally by an accelerated test method. The calculation and results of the experimental study have confirmed the high reliability level of the fueling monitoring system.
Keywords: control of fueling propellant, thermistor sensor, sensor reliability estimation, accelerated tests, acceleration factors.

MODELLING ALGORITHM FOR THERMAL MODES OF MULTILEVEL RADIO-ELECTRONIC MEANS

The paper offers a practical development and realization of the concept of system-wide thermal-physical design of algorithms for solving problems of the mathematical analysis of thermal modes of marine technologies for various purposes. Thus the complex of restrictions on various kinds of marine technologies installed on modern underwater and surface objects is considered.

SYSTEMS ENSURING THE FUNCTIONAL RELIABILITY OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES BY ACTIVE SUPPRESSION OF ACOUSTIC FIELDS

For the purposes of increasing the functional reliability of man-machine systems, the problem of ensuring adequate reactions of personnel on managerial impacts, as well as the safety of operators, has been raised to provide secure operation of technologies. The opportunity of realization of adaptive systems for individual and collective acoustic protection is shown as an example of development of the block compensating high intensity acoustic noise, destabilizing the controlling technological processes. With the help of high-speed digital signal processing, a design is proposed for the continuous adaptation of the active suppression of sound systems in a real time, dynamic environment.
Keywords: functional reliability of man-machine systems, adequacy of reactions of personnel, system of active sound suppression, adaptive systems of individual and collective acoustic protection.

ON THE ISSUE OF THE INCREASING FUNCTIONAL RELIABILITY OF DESIGNED SYSTEMS THROUGH THE USE OF CORRECT METHODS OF PROCESSING EXPERT JUDGEMENTS

This paper compares the uses of multi-criteria selection methods that correctly (in terms of the mathematical theory of measurements) take account of expert judgments using weighted sum approaches. Multi-criteria selection methods include utility theory approaches and criteria importance theory. It is shown that a proportion of the erroneous selections made using the weighted sum method can be rather significant. Formulas used to define a proportion of erroneous selections have been derived for a particular class of situations. Use of these formulas allows the defined multi-criteria selection method to be applied sensibly. It promotes a decrease in the proportion of erroneous design decisions, thus leading to an increase in the functional reliability of projected systems.
Keywords: functional reliability, multi-criteria selection, utility theory, criteria importance theory.

STATISTICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE RISK OF ACCIDENT OCCURRANCE ON RAILWAYS
The paper offers a procedure of an assessment of the "orange" risk level within the frame of the statistical assessment method of the risk level of accidents occurring on railway transport, based on processing of a posteriori data. This procedure is based on the construction of an auxiliary confidential interval for the lower admissible boundary of a considered statistical criterion. The statistical properties of this criterion are investigated. The paper describes the statistical criteria used in the decision-making underlying administrative actions on reduction of this risk level.
Keywords: traffic safety, probability (risk) of transport accident, statistical method, factor analysis, confidential interval, logistic regression, criteria of an assessment of accident risk.
